Safety Awareness Exercise Part 1
Trigger Scale: (0/5)

This exercise is to assess your awareness of danger signs, and is from the “Survivor to Thriver” manual. Here is how I completed the exercise.
Write down as many physical, emotional or intuitive signs as you can that tell you that your safety might be in question:
- Anger or fear; lack of trust
- Feelings of being ’sick’ suddenly, without explanation
- Fight or flight response
- Feeling uneasy, uncomfortable or having a sense of “unreality”
- Feeling that something is ‘off’
- Being on edge or feeling vulnerable; extreme agitation without provocation
- Sudden change in appetite, without explanation
- Sudden change in back and/or shoulder pain; tense muscles
- Feeling like I might make a scene, or ‘go crazy’
- Signs of panic attack or an actual attack, including:
- Shortness of breath
- Tightness in chest or stomach; ‘pit’ anywhere in body
- Speeding heart rate
- Upset stomach; nausea or queasiness
- Dizziness
- White, black, or fuzzy vision
- Feeling faint
Of course your results will probably be completely different. However, I always find it helpful to look at someone else’s results, so enjoy!
